Sometimes it was simply right for a version of us that no longer exists.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are places in our lives where we once felt completely at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Friendships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ways of living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even versions of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At one point, they fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe they gave us connection when we desperately needed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe we laughed there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learned there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Loved there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Felt understood there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe those people walked beside us through incredibly important chapters of our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then something changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes nothing dramatic even happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There isn&#8217;t always a falling out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There isn&#8217;t necessarily betrayal or anger or some big moment where everything suddenly becomes clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes you simply return to a place you once belonged and realize:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I don&#8217;t fit here anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That realization can be strange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because we tend to think that if something is no longer right for us, there must be something wrong with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or someone must be at fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe we were wrong about the relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe they changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe we changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe someone did something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But I&#8217;ve learned that sometimes there doesn&#8217;t need to be a villain in the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes people simply grow in different directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that doesn&#8217;t erase what existed before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something can have been beautiful <strong>and<\/strong> be complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone can have been an important part of your life <strong>and<\/strong> no longer be someone you walk closely beside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A place can have genuinely felt like home <strong>and<\/strong> no longer feel like home when you return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both things can be true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think that&#8217;s one of the harder parts of growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We talk a lot about becoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We don&#8217;t talk nearly as much about the grief that can accompany realizing you&#8217;ve become someone who no longer fits inside certain parts of your old life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because belonging is powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Familiarity is powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There can be comfort in knowing exactly who we are within a particular group, relationship or role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when something inside us changes, sometimes our instinct is to squeeze ourselves back into the place we used to fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To make ourselves smaller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To overlook what we feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To convince ourselves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Nothing is wrong. These are my people. This is where I belong.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But maybe nothing <strong>is<\/strong> wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe that&#8217;s the point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe we don&#8217;t need something to be wrong before we&#8217;re allowed to recognize that something has changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe we don&#8217;t have to dishonour our past in order to honour who we are now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can look back with gratitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can love people from chapters we&#8217;ve completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can appreciate what a place gave us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can remember who we were there with tenderness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And we can still keep walking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a particular kind of peace that comes when you stop trying to force yourself to belong somewhere your spirit has already released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not anger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not superiority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not <em>I&#8217;ve grown and you haven&#8217;t.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>That was home once.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It isn&#8217;t home anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And both can be true without either one being wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A gentle invitation to reflect<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is there somewhere in your life that you&#8217;re trying to belong simply because you always have?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A friendship?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A community?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A role?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A relationship?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A version of yourself?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ask yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If I discovered this today, exactly as I am now, would it still feel like somewhere I belong?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And if the answer is no, you don&#8217;t have to immediately leave, end anything or make a big decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are allowed to appreciate everything something once gave you without requiring it to come with you forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Some places are home for a lifetime.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Others are home for a chapter.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both helped shape you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And you are allowed to keep becoming.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not everything we leave behind was wrong for us.
