Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that a good life had to be earned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That rest comes after the work is finished.
That joy comes after we’ve accomplished enough.
That love comes when we’re worthy of it.
That we can receive once we’ve given enough.
That peace is something waiting for us on the other side of healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But what if none of that is true?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What if a good life isn’t a reward?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have come to believe that simply by being here, we are already worthy of experiencing the goodness that life has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because we’ve worked hard enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because we’ve suffered enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not because we’ve healed every wound, learned every lesson, or finally become the version of ourselves we think we’re supposed to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because we’re here.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n There is something about the idea of birthright<\/em> that has become really important to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not entitlement in the sense that life owes us everything we want or that difficult things shouldn’t happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But entitlement in its most basic meaning:<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to be here.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to take up space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to experience love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to feel joy even when there are unfinished things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to want more for ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are allowed to build lives that feel good to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And we don’t have to prove that we deserve any of it first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For a long time, I think I unconsciously believed that struggle made me deserving. That if I worked hard enough, gave enough, carried enough, survived enough\u2014then<\/em> maybe I had earned the right to exhale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Healing has taught me something very different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n My worth was never determined by how much I could carry.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n And neither is yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maybe part of coming home to ourselves is remembering that we were never supposed to spend our lives auditioning for our own existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We don’t have to earn our place here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We already belong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And maybe a good life isn’t something waiting for us once we’ve finally proven ourselves worthy of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Maybe a good life is something we are allowed to begin receiving now.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Where in your life are you still waiting to feel like you’ve earned<\/em> something you may already be allowed to receive?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rest?
